Public Engagement, Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Building
Team: Rhian Curtis, Meilyr Ceredig, Wyn Morris
The primary purpose of Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales is to conduct research and innovation for the benefit of communities in Rural Wales, generating evidence and solutions that can be used by government, public agencies, practitioners, voluntary sector organisations and community groups. As such, public engagement and capacity building are central to our work.
Key activities include events at the National Eisteddfod and the Royal Welsh Show; online and in-person panels, workshops, talks and seminars; and producing reports and resources that are accessible for anyone to use. We have built links with Welsh Government, Senedd Members, MPs and councils to provide evidence that can assist their work and make recommendations for policy.
We are also planning capacity-building workshops for researchers, policy-makers and practitioners on topics such as using evidence in policy or engaging communities.
In 2026, we will be holding a series of four ‘Dialogues’ involving stakeholders and community representatives to work towards consensus solutions for ‘wicked issues’ for rural policy in Wales, informed by evidence collected in the LPIP work programme.
